System Admin / Linux- Annapolis Junction, MD

System Administrator/Front Line Engineer in support of a current contract in Annapolis Junction, MD. The qualified candidate must have an active TS/SCI w/ Poly to start.

The Front-End FLE (Front-Line Engineer) is responsible for the following:

  • Work as part of a diverse, cross-functional, and geographically-dispersed team in the Tier II break/fix sustainment support for the 24x7x365 Mission operations of the global IT systems
  • Perform remote diagnosis, troubleshooting, and restoration of system components and associated hardware, software
  • Interact and communicate with internal resources from Infrastructure, DataFlow, and Networking disciplines
  • Interact and communicate with external organizations, including Tier I Support, End-user customers, and other contractors
  • May require working rotating shifts
  • After hours and weekend on-call support
  • Accurate documentation of symptoms, actions, follow-up items, and scheduling to include ticketing systems, turnover log, knowledge articles, reports, configuration changes, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related field preferred
  • Four or more years of experience with computer systems or networking
  • Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades
  • Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures
  • Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures

Contract Requirements

  • Five years experience with installation, maintenance, administration, and trouble shooting of LAN  at Tier II level in UNIX/Linux environment, computer hardware and software
  • Experience performing and assisting with equipment specification, setup, problem resolution, and network support related to computer hardware and software
  • Experience providing assistance to users
  •  Experience optimizing system operations; Experience ensuring compliance with licensing agreements and system currency
  • Excellent Linux Command Line skills
  • Excellent remote troubleshooting skills
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure, DataFlow, and Networking disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work as part of a diverse, cross-functional, and geographically dispersed team in fast¬-paced environment

Desired Skills/Experience:

Knowledge of/experience with Puppet Server
Knowledge of/experience with IBM Blade Center
Knowledge of/experience with KVM Switches
Knowledge of/experience with enterprise storage systems
Knowledge of/experience with Infrastructure, DataFlow, and Networking disciplines
Prior Mission experience is highly desired
Perl and Shell scripting
